An image of Animal figure. Dismal Hound. Probably made by Charles Gouyn of St James's, London. The unglazed underside has a large oval opening, leaving a flange round the edge. The hound bitch sits on an oval, low mound base with its front paws apart and its head turnned to its left, looking downwards. It has floppy ears and a lugubrious expression. Soft-paste porcelain, slip-cast and lead-glazed. The glaze is off-white and very speckly. Height, whole, 12.5 cm, length, whole, 10 cm, circa 1749-1759. Rococo.
