  <description>
    <value>An allusion to the coronation of Voltaire at the Com&#xE9;die Fran&#xE7;aise on the 30th March 1778, after the performance of his play "Ir&#xE8;ne". Voltaire had just returned to France after an exile of nearly thirty years. A bust of the author on the stage and Mme Vestris crowned it with a wreath of laurels. However, Voltaire had already experienced a similar ceremony with the marquise de Villette and the actor Brizard in his private lodge. This print is a synthesis of the two incidents.</value>
