A Italian street scene with figures. Unknown draughtsman. Red chalk on paper, height 152 mm, width 182 mm. Production Note: This drawing was bequeathed as by Fragonard (1732-1806), but has since been rejected as inconsistent with his style. Among alternative attributions which have been proposed are Joseph-Benoitée (1743-1807), and Jacques-François Amand (1730-69), although in neither case does the boldness of this drawing accord completely with their work.
