  <description>
    <value>Ewer and cover with peony design. Stoneware, thrown, with parts attached, incised and celadon-glazed. The body of this ewer is almost globular, and has a low wide neck, a squat spout and a well-proportioned curved handle. The angular dish-shaped cover has a globular knob and a loop for attaching it to a corresponding loop on the handle. The whole appearance is compact, the outlines pure and simple. The base is recessed. An exuberant peony spray is finely incised on either side, while foliate scrolls within lobed panels are framing both spout and handle. Simple scroll motifs are further incised on top of the lid. The glaze is of pale blue-green tone with a subtle gloss. Seven fire-clay spur-marks can be seen around the base, where the glaze has been wiped away.</value>
