French gold brooch, set with cabochon cut garnets

An image of Jewellery. Brooch. Carbuncles (cabochon-cut garnets), set in gold, bloomed to produce two tones and engraved. In the shape of a spray of leaves with five flowers and five buds. On the back, an oval coil of gold wire to shich the spray and the pin fastening are attached, height 8.3 cm, length 12.6 cm, circa 1840. French or English. Given by Mrs Hull Grundy.
