Chinese bronze feline Taotie mask

An image of Taotie mask. Feline face with curling horns, ridged eyebrows and pierced, bulging eyes, truncated at the tip of the nose. The back has six shallow loops for attachment. Label, with a tie on, inscribed in green ink 'Sir Neil Malcolm'. Bronze, with uneven green and reddish brown patination, pierced eyes, height 19.4 cm, width 25.5 cm. Zhou Dynasty (1050-771 BC). Chinese. Acquisition Credit: Lent to the museum by Helen H. L. Whittow (nee Malcolm).
