Taotie mask. Feline face with curling horns, ridged eyebrows and pierced, bulging eyes, truncated at the tip of the nose. The back has six shallow loops for attachment. Label, with a tie on, inscribed in green ink 'Sir Neil Malcolm'. Bronze, with uneven green and reddish brown patination, pierced eyes, height 19.4 cm, width 25.5 cm. Zhou Dynasty (1050-771 BC). Chinese. Acquisition Credit: Lent to the museum by Helen H. L. Whittow (nee Malcolm).
