An image of Illuminated manuscript. Cutting. Historiated initial from an Antiphoner. Production Place: Central Italy. Parchment, 118 x 110 mm, two fragmentary four-line musical staves ruled in red ink and two fragmentary lines of text ruled in plummet on reverse. Circa 1325 to circa 1350.
CONTENTS: On reverse, part of the second antiphon at Matins for the Common of Martyrs, [Tamquam aurum in fornace proba]vit electos [dominus et quasi holoc]austa ace[pit eos in eternum]. DECORATION: Historiated initial in pink on blue ground: [A, 2 ll.] Executioner beheading two saints.
