  • Illuminated Manuscript. Cutting from the Missals of Pope Clement VII. Giallo, Jacopo del (Italian). Latin, Epigraphic capitals. Vertical inhabited border with scrolling foliage and medallions on black ground, the medallions housing skeletons, skulls, crossbones, Medici emblem of falcon with diamond ring and motto Semper, inscriptions Clem and VII in two roundels, and Death with scythe. Parchment, traces of earlier paper mounts on verso, 317 x 33 mm, 1523-1534. Production Place: Rome.
