'This plaster is one of Woolner's models for the posthumous over-life-size seated marble statue of Whewell in Trinity College Chapel, which is dated 1872. The marble was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1873 (no. 1516). Another plaster model, which can be traced to Woolner's studio sale of 1913 (lot 67), is in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
