Gabriel Stokes&#x2019; long tenure of the Lucasian Professorship of Mathematics. It is a replica of Thornycroft&#x2019;s bust at Pembroke College, commissioned in the same year to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of Stokes&#x2019; connection with Cambridge. He had been admitted to  Pembroke College in 1837 and became its Master in 1902.</value>
