Bucket-shaped body with slightly spreading foot, slightly concave underneath, applied tubular spout and two strap handles each with two vertical grooves on the exterior and pinched lower terminal. The almost flat cover has a finial in the form of a bulbous vase with a stopper. The sides are decorated with 'birds-on-rocks' pattern with at the back a trellis border above and below, and at the front below. Above at the front is the inscription 'STEPHEN GARDNER 1631' between groups of three narrow horizontal bands. The spout and outside of the handles are blue, and there is a blue band round the edge of the foot. The cover is decorated to match.
