  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue. Circular with a broad rim and shallow well, with concave underside and slightly recessed foot. In the middle is a landscape with buildings, a high tower, and a church steeple, and in the foreground a post to which is attached a sheet bearing the date '1649'. On the rim is a border of a sailing ship and a sponged tree growing out of a wavy cliff, repeated five times. To the right of centre at the top are the initials 'H/T L', and at the bottom, the date, '1649'.</value>
