The exceptionally large bowl is circular with deep curved and slightly warped sides, standing on a circular hollow foot. The interior is decorated with a central circular medallion enclosing a landscape showing a man shooting partridges and another landing a fish. Around it there are eight sprays of prunus, peonies and other Chinese flowers. The exterior has a continuous fox-hunting scene with on one side three men on horseback, and a huntsman holding a horn crossing a stile on foot. Further round to the right there is another mounted huntsman and one running on foot, and in the background hounds and a fox, trees, and rocks. Plain bands encircle the base of the bowl. The foot is painted with slanting leaves springing upwards from a broad border of closely set stylized flowers and birds reserve in a blue ground.C.1570-19281accession numberC.1570-192872237priref72237old object number2703old object number2570urihttps://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/72237https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/72237referenceagent-149638adlib-agent-1496387376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8The Fitzwilliam MuseumDr J.W.L.
