  <description>
    <value>Earthenware with cream glaze, painted in blue, green, yellow, a little dark puce, brown, grey, black, and white enamels. The plaque is rectangular with rounded corners, and has shallow, curved sides with two suspension holes below the top edge. The flat central area and sloping sides are painted with a landscape. In the right forground, is a man with a seated dog, and in the middle are two peasants with a small herd of brown sheep or pigs. In the left foreground there are rocks and trees, and further back a castle, a lake with a boat on it, and distant hills. A small flock of birds is flying in the cloudy sky over the castle. The edge of the plaque is dark brown to resemble a frame. The back is cream with initials and date in red enamel, 'CHF/1840' or WF/1840'</value>
