An image of Spoons. Combined spoon and fork/folding spoon and fork. Holzalb, Hans Jacob, Zürich, attributed (active 1634-1657). The spoon's fig-shaped bowl is attached by six loops on its back to a three-pronged fork. The base of the fork's handle is hinged and the folding mechanism held in place by a slide in the form of a lion's mask. The pentagonal handle has a finial in the form of a goat's head, which unscrews to reveal a toothpick. The back of the bowl of the spoon is engraved with a later coat-of-arms and crest in mantling. The handle is inscribed on the front 'IOSEPHI GEORGU ORASSI 1646'. Silver, the bowl of the spoon was raised; the tines of the fork were forged; the finial was cast; the finial and slide were chased, and the armorials and inscription engraved, length, overall, 14.9 cm, weight, whole, 42 g, 1634-1657.
