<note>
<value>This trio and a corresponding example in maroon (C.20A-C-2020) represent a pattern designed by Cooper for the Festival of Britain, 1951. Susie Cooper produced 40 place settings of this complex design with hand-painted gold detailing for the Royal Pavilion at the Festival of Britain 1951, and additional shapes were made for the Festival itself. The ‘Quail’ shape was also introduced in 1951; it drew attention to the elegance of bone china and was used for many years.</value>
