The Horatii and the Curiatii, after Giulio Romano

An image of Giulio Romano (Giulio Pippi), after (1499?-1546). This print represents the battle of the Horatii and the Curiatii, described by Livy (History of Rome, Bk. 1). Bartsch named the group of anonymous Italian engravers "School of Marcantonio Raimondi": which were Italian in origin, from the first half of the 16th century, and which displayed a technique that tried to imitate that of Marcantonio. Engraving, circa 1541. Italian.
