Sempervivum arborea (Aconium arboreum). Sowerby, James (British, 1756-1822). Watercolour and some white over graphite, within ruled graphite margins on paper, height, drawn area, 418 mm, width, drawn area, 221 mm, circa 1800. Study of thick fleshy stem with lateral rosette of succulent leaves and terminal inflorescence. Lower left, detailed study of perspective view of individual flower, with ovary and styles.
