Silver cutlery set, by Johann Christoph Laminet

An image of Cutlery Set. Knife, fork, spoon and case. Laminet, Johann Christoph, spoon maker, attributed, Augsburg. Unidentified cutler. Unknown handle maker. Silver, parcel-gilt and steel, leather with gilt tooling; the knife (A) has a steel blade which flares towards its rounded end with central point; the baluster shaped bolster is gilt; the silver handle is circular in section and broadens towards the terminal cap; the sides are of open filigree scrolls between two rope borders. The fork (B) has three gilt metal tines on a long knopped stem. The spoon has an oval silver-gilt bowl with a rat-tail on the back. Both the fork and spoon have handles which are similar to that of the knife. The case (C) has a hinged lid and is approximately the shape of a spoon with a broad handle. It is covered with red leather with tooled partially gilt decoration. Length, knife, 17.7 cm, length, fork, 15.4 cm, length, spoon, 15.7 cm, length, case, 19.3 cm, circa 1695- circa 1707. German.
