Screen fan. Unknown maker. Decorated with quail and orchid, the reverse with a colophon. Inscribed with a dedication to Shunweng laoshou daren, date: gengchen (i.e. either 1820 or 1760) and signed un-deciphered. Stick: plain bamboo. Rim: brocade covered. Face: painted in translucent watercolours and inscribed in Chinese ink on silk; reverse: inscribed in Chinese ink on gold spattered silk. Height, guards, 39.5 cm, width, 26.7 cm, after 1770 to before 1830. Messel-Rosse Collection.
