Inscribed by a collector with the identification of the actor (top right). 1794. Japanese. Ukiyo-e. Notes: This print is one of ten ‘large-head’ portraits by Sharaku that depict actors in the play Koinyôbô somewake tazuna (The Loved wife’s multi-coloured leading-rope) performed at the Kawazaki theatre in the fifth month of 1794.
