Game (2016) ‘Contemporary British Crafts: The Goodison Gift to the Fitzwilliam Museum’. London: Philip Wilson Publishers: Jane Adam studied at Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art, London. She established her own studio in London in 1985 and over the past thirty years has made a unique contribution to the field of jewellery through her batch production and individual works in aluminium, a material more traditionally associated with utilitarian objects such as kitchenware. Her technical innovation with this material has resulted in light, flexible, colourful jewellery that is worn and collected internationally. Adam’s use of pattern and colour draws on her wide interest in textiles and ornament. In recent works she has made use of a range of digital printing techniques. Jane Adam: ‘I am best known for my work in anodised aluminium, and for more than twenty-five years have made jewellery using my own original ways of working and colouring the metal. My new work in silver and gold explores these possibilities further, using the nature of the material itself to create form and surface texture by stressing and distortion. I am most concerned with how a piece feels when it is worn. My jewellery comes alive when it finds a wearer, forming a sensual relationship with her and becoming part of her expression of herself.’referenceterm-109891adlib-term-109891ad6efeb2-90e2-3107-ada3-8348ed09c40f21st Century, Earlyreferenceterm-107700adlib-term-1077008f5360fb-b262-3ae9-8942-b81cc0e3e848Elizabeth IIreferenceterm-106216adlib-term-106216825b8379-ec94-388e-9a59-624e40c090d0literalEnglandEnglandcountryLondonreferenceterm-39581adlib-term-39581a413dbcf-1857-3cfb-96f1-16526f1e674caluminiumHeightcm6.5Widthcm6.3referencemedia-196665adlib-media-196665456f3eb1-0712-36bc-8823-1c008b6cf0cajpegaa/aa33/large_M_9_2008_200901_mfj22_dc2.jpg1heightpixels682widthpixels102316162516099151imagejpegaa/aa33/mid_M_9_2008_200901_mfj22_dc2.jpg1heightpixels333widthpixels50016162516099151imagejpegaa/aa33/M_9_2008_200901_mfj22_dc2.jpg1heightpixels683widthpixels102516162516099151imagejpegaa/aa33/preview_M_9_2008_200901_mfj22_dc2.jpg1heightpixels167widthpixels25016162516099151image0media
