London: Philip Wilson Publishers: Kate Malone works in three areas of ceramics: firstly \u2018one-off\u2019 studio pieces, secondly with architects, designers and public art agencies, and thirdly making short-run production pieces to provide a more affordable range of work. Her work is based on the natural forms of the sea and land as she is absorbed with the wonders of nature as well as with the alchemy of ceramic glaze technology. Kate Malone: \u2018This piece \u2026 has a slight musical connection in the simple fact that when making the piece it felt it was becoming slightly like a stringed instrument \u2026 I then went to the music section of the V&A and had a good look \u2026 it was not a special study, but I did think one day it might go further \u2026 but as of yet has not. I did learn the fiddle at a very basic level at school and loved that scroll on a violin \u2026 which is strong in my memory.
