Lidded Jar, by Richard Slee

An image of Studio Ceramics. Lidded Jar. Slee, Richard (British, b.1946). Square in plan, standing on four squishy-looking legs. Each side is constructed from three rows of two squares with shaped edges which produce an elevation with three concave curves at each corner, and a slightly domed top with a circular aperture in the centre to take the lid. The circular slip-cast (?) lid has a raised, curved edge, and rises up in the centre into a ball knop. White earthenware, hand-built, and glazed with clear, pink and yellow glazes, height 48 cm, width 24 cm, width (across feet) 19 cm, 1995. Gift of Nicholas and Judith Goodison through the National Art Collections Fund.
