Engraved plasma gem with Chnoubis

An image of Engraved gems. Magical amulet. Obverse: a rearing Chnoubis, its lion-head in profile to the left and crowned with rays. Amongst the rays and to the right of the head is the legend NOX: in the field are three stars. To the left of the gem is the inscription CXNO and to the right YBI- together spelling the creature's name. Beneath the loosely coiled tail is a legend. Reverse: the sign for Chnoubis in two forms, each in triplicate. a rosette-like sign is placed above and below the vertically arranged rows of Chnoubis signs. Along the left side of the stone runs a legend. Intaglio cutting, plasma, 19 mm x 14 mm, circa 200-circa 400 AD. Roman Imperial.
