On the recto (left): A central oval panel is decorated with a flower scrap of roses and violets. Inside on the left: a central silver framed oval window contains a chromolithographed bunch of forget-me-nots on white wove paper. Inside at the centre: A flower scrap of lilies, roses and berries lifts up to reveal a panel of black silk embroidered in white, yellow and green thread with the title and verse: 'BIRTHDAY / WISH / THIS DO I SEND / IN ALL SINCERITY, / TO GREET THEE ON / THY NATAL DAY: ...'. Inside on the right: a central silver framed oval window contains a chromolithographed bunch of pink roses on white wove paper. On the recto (right) A central oval panel is decorated with a flower scrap of red and pink roses and forget-me-nots. On the verso (centre) a silver framed oval window contains a white silk panel padded with cotton wool (which would originally have been scented) and decorated with a flower scrap. Mounted with three other sachet valentines on the same album leaf. This card includes a birthday greeting as part of a valentine-style design. Birthday cards were a later development and the woven panel probably dates this card to the 1870s. There are similar 'cross-over' cards in the Laura Seddon collection of greetings cards.
