The basin has four feet in the form of ox hooves, and four S-scroll handles alternating with four relief masks. The cover is domed and stepped and has a circular two-stage finial. The outside is decorated with short lines of white slip under the masks, lines down the sides of the handles, and bands round the cover and knob. The inside of the bowl is decorated with a spray of flowers and the name and date 'Salome/17' and Schütz/77'. The inside of the lid is decorated with a floral spray dividing the date, '1777'.
