Standing Nude (Little Venus Without Arms), by Aristide Maillol

An image of Nu Debout (Petite Venus sans Bras). Standing Nude (Little Venus without Arms). Maillol, Aristide (French, 1861-1944). Rudier, Alexis (founder). The figure stands on, and is attached to, an approximately oval base which is curved at the back and flattened at the front, with sides sloping slighting inwards from the base. The girl has her hair swept up into a chignon at the back. Her head is tilted downards and slightly to her right. She stands on her left leg with her right knee relaxed and her weight on the ball of her right foot. There are no arms. Bronze, cast with brown patina, height (whole) 35.5 cm, width (base) 10.5 cm. Early 20th century.
