Passe, Crispijn I de (Flemish, 1564-1637). Autumn: A gentleman and lady carousing in the open air, with on the right a vase of flowers, two bowls of fruit and a bottle, and on the left, peasants making wine. Inscribed at the top centre 'OCTOBRE' and at the bottom centre 'AUTOMNE'. Ivory, carved in low relief and mounted on thicker wood panel, height, whole, 11.5 cm, width, whole, 10.5 cm, circa 1600-1900. One of a set of four (M.3B, M.3C, M.3D-1991) depicting the four seasons. French.
