Straight sides rise from a semi-spherical base to a slightly smaller irregular rim, with two vertical spaces in one side. Threads have been wound in an uneven pattern around the base, finished with a knot and loose ends, and there are eight stitches to one side. The vessel is black, with wide band of thinly applied white around the middle which shows up the fibrous construction. Gizella describes her ‘Morphus’ vessels as ‘wrapped and sculpted vessel forms, quietly resonant of internal and external skins, of scarred and fissured surfaces, of abrasions, bindings and sutures’, which have evolved through the tactile and contemplative process of drawing with paper, cloth and thread.
