Morphus VII, by Gizella Warburton

An image of Contemporary Craft. Vessel. Morphus VII. Warburton, Gizella, (British). Tall circular vessel constructed from thinly applied layers of fibrous material. Straight sides rise from a semi-spherical base to a slightly smaller irregular rim, with two vertical spaces in one side. Threads have been wound in an uneven pattern around the base, finished with a knot and loose ends, and there are eight stitches to one side. The vessel is black, with wide band of thinly applied white around the middle which shows up the fibrous construction. The underside is a very small flat circle. Wrapped, stitched and painted fibrous material, mixed media, height, whole, 44 cm, diameter, 25 cm, circa 2010- 2017. Acquisition Credit: Given by Nicholas and Judith Goodison through The Art Fund.
