Jewellery. Brooch. Hunt and Roskell, London. Gold, cast and chased in the shape of a spray of wild roses; detachable brooch-pin-fastening (A) screwed onto the back. Accompanied by a two-pronged pin (B) which converts the brooch into a hair ornament when screwed into the back in place of the pin-fastening. In rectangular maroon velvet case (C), the lid of which is lined with white silk and stamped in gold with the maker's name and address. The hair pin lies in a separate compartment in the base of the case. Height, brooch, 9.0 cm, width, brooch, 7.0 cm, length, pin, 12.1 cm, circa 1850. Acquisition Credit: Given by Mrs J. Hull Grundy.
