Jewellery. Brooch. Phillips, Robert (British, d.1881). Of slightly convex, oval shield shape with a pin fastening across the back. Inscribed ‘M.P.K/Christmas, 1865’ and 'K.J.K.'. Gold, set with a banded agate and decorated with filigree, granulation, and black and white enamel. Height, whole, 4.8, cm, width, whole, 3.2, cm, dated 1865. Production Note: The brooch may have been a pendant, the present clasp forming the loop at the top. Acquisition Credit: Given by Mrs J. Hull Grundy.
