An image of Jewellery. Ring with portrait of George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Craft, William Hopkins (British, op.1774-, d.1805). Gold, the bezel set with an enamel miniature painting of Handel. The ring band is engraved 'Handel by Zincke from the Lumsden Propert/Sale'; and inside ring, 'Presented to/Dr Whitfield by/Dr Hague, Camb/commencement/July 1819'. Late 18th century. Production Note: The miniature was formerly attributed to Christian Friedrich Zincke. The miniature was taken from the portrait of Handel by Hudson now in the National Portrait Gallery (No. 3970), but the costume was changed.
