Silver chalice, by Edward Spencer

An image of Cup/Chalice. Spencer, Edward (British, 1872-1938). Artificer's Guild, England, London. The sloping cylindrical sides beneath a flared rim finish in an almost flat bottom, which stands on a spiral fluted trumpet-shaped foot on a circular base. The body has an applied reeded girdle between two borders of punched beads. At the base of the bowl is a second applied band engraved with an overlapping ovulo border, which is between two applied rope borders. The top of the foot has six sides, which spiral down and out into a stepped circular base; the top being engraved with a border of three lines above a pair of wavy lines. Silver, with engraved decoration, height, overall, 14.9 cm, diameter, base, 10.2 cm, weight, whole, 315 g, 1935-1936. Arts and Crafts.
