An image of Verge watch in gold pair case. Seignior, Robert, maker, England, London. Delander, Nathaniel, case maker, possibly. 1683. MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'Ro Seignior London'. Large balance cock with pierced and engraved table, with wide looped leaves and tendrils border (lace edge). Centre with three radial tulip form arms, foot pierced and engraved. Steel balance. Tompion regulator, silver regulation dial with radial Arabic numbers 1 to 4, single arrow arched round as pointer to dial. 'LXVI' scratched on plate. Pierced fusee iron post. Blued steel case bolt with flat decorative foot, nib through dial. Rectangular potance and counter potance with engraved sides, riveted to top plate. Pillar plate with four pierced pillars with rectangular feet. Fusee, with hollow square, and chain, endless screw set-up under barrel, worm having screwdriver slot, brass post one end and steel bridge at other, barrel with two lips. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise. BRASS EDGE: Thin, very narrow, engraved, edge outside dial recess. No feet four holes to clear riveted pillar ends, three holes for dial feet, in line with holes in pillar plate. DIAL: Gold, radial Roman chapters, ladder quarters ring with hour crosses and dots for half-hours. Centre and between chapters matted with ring punch. HAND: Blued steel hour hand, straight with star at head and sickle tail. INNER CASE: Gold, plain with circular brass cover over winding hole. Inside stamped with maker's mark 'ND' conjoined under coronet (5 points). HM London 1683. Scratch marks '10-2', '11-4' and '11-9', one under each other. Bezel was cut, now brazed. Cylindrical pendant with spherical top, plain ring bow. OUTER CASE (A): Gold, fine, ten panelled, filigree body and bezel.
