Sandstone gravestone, inscribed in Kufic script

Image attached to E.38.1930

An image of Islamic stela. Tombstone/gravestone, inscribed. The text is in Cufic. The inscription is poorly preserved but it is evident that the owner was a woman, who died in late April or May AF 1056. The surface is blackened with smoke damage and so the stela was doubtless reused. Production Place/Find Spot: Aswan, Egypt. Sandstone, length 54 cm, width 39 cm, depth 6.5 cm, 1056 AD. Islamic period.
