Agnew, 1956; "These drawings have descended from the artist himself. Place's second wife was a Mrs Anne Wintringham and their eldest daughter Anne married Stoner Parrott of Hawkesbury near Coventry. On Place's death, half the residue of his estate passed to his daughter (Anne Parrott), and thence to her son Place Parrott. The latter was an ancestor on the maternal side of Elizabeth Fraser, the hieress of Hospitalfield, who married the artist, Patrick Allen, afterwards known as Patrick Allen-Fraser". A sale of drawings was authorised by the Trustees of Patrick Allen-Fraser of Hospitalfield, Arbroath, and held at Sotheby's, June 1931. It included a number of topographical drawings by Francis Place, including the two sketchbooks now in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
