Nelme, Francis Punch Bowl silver, hemispherical bowl standing on a stepped foot, the rim with scroll border applied with putti heads, shells and scrolls; the body embossed with scrolling flutes and alternating panels of matting; the foot with gadrooned border There is some question about the honesty of this punch bowl. It is of style usually made circa 1665-1700; the hallmarks on the base appear in a line; the leopard's head crowned does not have a beard and is similar to that used between 1724 and 1726; and an attempt has been made to erase an old scratch weight. C.1731-2 London, England
