Stoneware box and cover, by Edward Hughes

An image of Studio Ceramics. Box and cover. Hughes, Edward (British, 1953-2006). Square, with both halves of almost the same depth. Stoneware, slab-built in two parts, the interior coated with transparent, speckled grey-green glaze; the exterior with dark-brown and red-brown glaze; the cover trailed with diagonal stripes, and feathered. The base, the lower edge of the sides of the cover, and the upper edge of the sides of the box are unglazed. Height, whole, 6.2 cm ,width, base, 15.8 cm, length, base, 15.8 cm, 1989. Production Note: from the last firing at Renwick Pottery before the potter moved to Isel.
