English lead-glass jar

An image of Jar. Unidentified English glasshouse. The jars stands on a circular foot with ten pincered arcs of irregular size round the edge, and a pontil mark in the centre. The body is of narrow thistle-shape. It has a second gather round the base moulded with wrythen gadrooning. Round the middle there are three trailed bands pinched to create a chain with four links. Below the rim there are three trailed bands. Lead-glass, blown, with a second gather round lower part moulded, and trailed and pincered decoration, height, whole, 13.2 cm, diameter, rim, 8.5 cm, diameter, foot, 8 cm, circa 1720. Baroque. Sir Ivor and Lady Batchelor Bequest through The Art Fund.
