Bust of an old man (Jan Uytenbogaert). Unknown printmaker. After Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669). Etching, counterproof, black carbon ink on laid paper, height 93 mm, width 70 mm, after 1635. Production Note: Only state. Notes: Copy by a pupil of Rembrandt reduced to a bust after the portrait of 'Jan Uytenbogaert, preacher of the remonstrants' (B279). By the same hand as 'Bald old man in profile left: Bust' (B293) (see AD.12.39-371 & AD.12.39-328). Attribution once given to Karel van der Pluym (1625-1672) [information on old mount]. Alternative Number(s): Hollstein (Dutch/Flemish); B El 35 Only state; 1969. Lugt; 2475.
