An image of Jan Uytenbogaert, 'The Goldweigher'. Baillie, William (British, 1723-1810). After Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669). Etching, drypoint, black carbon ink, on laid paper prepared with an ochre wash, to give the appearance of an oriental paper, height, plate, 247 mm, width, plate, 202 mm; height, sheet, 261 mm, width, sheet, 217 mm, circa 1800. Production Note: Copy. Notes(s): The sitter was Receiver-General, and assisted Rembrandt in gaining payment for paintings he executed for Frederick Henry. He was a cousin of the preacher of the same name, also portrayed by the artist - see AD.12.39-184 and 23.K.5-367. Alternative Number(s): Hollstein (Dutch/Flemish); B281 Copy 1; 1969. Biörklund/Barnard; BB39-D Copy 1; 1955.
