Egyptian clay soul house, or offering tray

An image of Clay offering tray. Model house. Production Place/Find Spot: Egypt. 'Soul house'; these models provide a dwelling space for the soul of the deceased. It also provides food offerings, such as bread and joints of meat, which can be seen lying on the floor of the courtyard. There are stairs on the exterior to allow access to the upper floor. Ceramic, clay, handmade, depth 10.7 cm, length 41 cm, width 28 cm, 
2160 to 2055 B.C. First Intermediate Period.
