The jug swells out slightly from base, then rises and contracts into a narrow neck before flaring outwards at the front to form a lip, and at the opposite side to project slightly over the single-loop handle. The ground is bleu lapis caillouté in gold with, under the spout, a pear-shaped reserve, surrounded by an elaborate frame of scrolls, shells and trellis diaperpanels. The reserve is painted in polychrome with a man and woman peasant sitting on a bench in front of a cottage with a landscape in the background. There are gold bands round the foot and rim, dentilated on the interior, gold lines down the sides of the handles and five horizontal striated areas down its back. Part of a dejeuner comprising a tray, cup and saucer, and sugar basin and cover.
