Cylindrical ink pot with double walls, the outer wall pierced with perforations in the shape of the four different pips of a pack of cards within semi-circles of small holes. The cylindrical neck of the pot has a thread onto which the lid screws. The lid forming a sheath for a quill pen, is of tapering cylindrical form with a rounded end. On the base of the pot the initials and date 'H:P/1757' are painted with double lines in dark red enamel.
