Teapot and cover. Worcester Porcelain Factory. Giles, James, probably (British porcelain painter, 1718-1780, London). The globular teapot has a curved spout and ribbed loop handle, and a low footring. The slightly domed cover has a flower knob. The sides of the teapot are painted, probably in the atelier of James Giles, with a Japanese pattern, with four upright orange-ground panels with gilt trelliswork, each with a chrysanthemum head mons in reserve, separated by four flower sprays in famille-rose style. The handle and spout have a rococo motif in red. The cover is painted in en suite. Soft-paste porcelain, lead glazed, painted in orange, red, yellow, green, blue and pink enamels, and gilt, height, whole, 14.0 cm, length, whole, 19.3 cm, circa 1765-1768. Japanese Style.
