An image of Netsuke: katabori: Raiden seated with his drum. Masakazu, Edo Period, 19th century, Japan. Scowling, unshaven figure of Raiden seated on a cloud, his left arm resting on his thunder drum, his hand supporting his head; his right arm around his leg, his bag hanging at his waist. Fine incising and black ink details to tiger-skin loin cloth and leggings. His eyes are of ivory with dark pupils; his drum with two bands of raised, shiny black beading. Himotoshi at the rear of the drum and cloud. Wood, carved, incised with inalid decoration and ink detailing, height, whole, 3.1 cm, width, whole, 4.3 cm, circa 1800-1868. Edo Period (1615-1868).
