On 23 November that year, Legros agreed to sit for a portrait. The sittings took place at the studio of Gustave Natorp in Paris and the portrait was exhibited at the Grosvenor Gallery, London, in 1882. Legros saw it there and wrote to Rodin on 6 May 1882 telling him that he found it admirable.
