Textiles. Band sampler. Unidentified maker, England/Scotland. The sampler comprises ten horizontal bands which include alphabets, initials 'WS EES dz', the date '1795', a swan, a peacock, a man, a bird, a child, a mound with rabbits, a church, a goose, vase of flowers and the Temptation of Adam and Eve. Linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, eyelet hole and satin stitch. Length 43.5 cm, width 24.1 cm, 1795.
